Shmuel Katz
Manhattan School of Music Faculty: College Classical ViolaÂ
and Orchestral Performance Program
In demand as a viola instructor at the Manhattan School of Music, Shmuel Katz has an exciting studio of students from all across the globe.  He enjoys working with his students on improving their musicianship and technique, while still focusing on cultivating each student's individual musical personality and helping them attain their goals, including winning orchestra auditions.  Shmuel teaches the Orchestral Repertoire class for all violists at the Manhattan School of Music, in addition to viola students in the College and Orchestral Performance Program, for those pursuing a more specialized study and preparation of orchestral excerpts found in auditions for Symphony, Ballet, and Opera Orchestras.  Having played extensively in all three of these orchestral genres, Mr. Katz is in a unique position of having experience performing all major tutti and solo excerpts found in orchestra auditions. He also enjoys collaborating with living composers, and introducing his students to their works.
